Akash Arora: Decades of Insight, Proven Results
We all face challenges that feel insurmountable at times. Life throws curveballs that test our strength, our patience, and sometimes even our faith in ourselves. I've been there—rock bottom. I know what it feels like to have everything seem like it's crumbling around you, to feel completely alone, blaming everything and everyone, including yourself. But here’s the good news: rock bottom doesn’t have to be the end of your story. It can be the beginning of a transformation.
My Journey from India to the U.S.: A Crash Course in Resilience
When I moved from India to the U.S. as a teenager, it felt like stepping into a completely different world. No internet. No friends. My family often made fun of me, and I faced a huge language barrier. I was thrust into an unfamiliar culture where I had no choice but to adapt, and quickly. This wasn’t just a test of learning a new language—it was about survival, resilience, and figuring out how to thrive in the face of adversity.
I had to work my way through that change, alone. But this experience shaped who I am today as a coach. It taught me that no matter how unfamiliar or daunting life seems, you have the power to push through and succeed.
The Early Lessons of Responsibility: My First Job at 14
Before moving to the U.S., I was the kid who never had to do chores or take on any real responsibilities. But at 14, I found myself working my first job. It was a huge shift—I had to take the bus alone, work long hours, sell, clean, and talk to people in a new language. This experience was a crash course in leadership and accountability.
That early leap into responsibility taught me that sometimes, the only way to grow is to take on challenges headfirst. And as a coach, I pass that lesson on to my clients: growth comes from stepping outside of your comfort zone and pushing through obstacles, no matter how tough they seem.
How Basketball Saved Me: Finding Purpose Through Sport
Basketball became my escape and my passion. I wasn’t just playing for fun—I practiced for hours on my own every day, teaching myself the game. Eventually, I was offered a spot on the India Olympic team and played with several teams across America. Sports gave me something bigger than myself to strive for. It also taught me the power of teamwork and leadership.
In coaching, I bring that same mindset: whether you’re in a professional team or navigating life’s hurdles alone, you have the potential to lead, motivate, and achieve greatness.
The Power of Friendship: Building Lasting Connections
I’ve maintained friendships for over 30 years, and for me, these relationships are a testament to the power of choice. Friendships are not blood relationships; they are chosen, nurtured, and built on mutual respect. My friends are my family, and these bonds remind me every day of the importance of surrounding yourself with people who support and uplift you.
In my coaching work, I emphasize the importance of building authentic relationships—whether in business, family, or personal life. A strong support system can be the difference between staying stuck and moving forward.
Rock Bottom: A Turning Point, Not a Defeat
I’ve been to rock bottom, where I spent months locked in a room, blaming myself and everyone else around me. It was a dark time where I had to make a choice: give up or rise. I chose to rise. That decision transformed me and became the foundation of my coaching philosophy. You always have a choice, no matter how bleak things seem.
Now, I help my clients face their own rock-bottom moments with strength and humor. Because here’s the truth: life can be tough, but it’s also funny, ridiculous, and full of opportunities to grow. Sometimes, a little laughter can shift your perspective in ways you’d never expect.
What I Teach My Clients: Resilience, Humor, and Transformation
My coaching philosophy is simple: everyone has the potential to transform, to rise from their lowest point and build something better. I bring genuineness, humour and honesty into every coaching session because I believe that transformation doesn’t have to be heavy and serious all the time. It can be uplifting, fun, and incredibly rewarding.
I teach my clients how to stay positive—without being fake. I show them how to lead, how to stay calm in the face of adversity, and how to build relationships that last. I remind them that no matter how tough things get, there’s always a way through.
Conclusion: People Don’t Suck—Life Can Be Good
At the heart of everything I do is a simple belief: people don’t suck. Everyone has good in them, even when life seems to push them in the wrong direction. I know this because I’ve seen it in myself, my friends, and my clients.
If you’re feeling stuck or struggling to see the light at the end of the tunnel, remember this: life can be tough, but it’s also full of potential. You have the power to change your story, and I’m here to help you do it.
